SuperOneClick root may not work for this phone, some of the time. Here is another way to root this phone. This method is easy and can work on both Windows and Linux. I am providing the guide + rooting utility + drivers for the Windows specific method.

1. First step is to download the drivers from http://www.mediafire.com/?7grawtwnm0frcxw

2. Install the drivers.

3. Download the rooting utility http://www.mediafire.com/?kk4bfy226m68n8l

4. Extract the zip files in to a folder.

5. On your phone go to

Settings->Application->Development and check the “USB Debugging” option.

6. Connect the phone to your computer using a USB cable and wait for it to be detected. Now go to the folder in you created in your computer after extracting the zip file you downloaded from step 3.

7. Run the file “run.bat” by clicking on it. It should push superuser.apk on to your phone , root it and than reboot it.

Troubleshooting

Some times your phone will get stuck in a loop and will not reboot, if this happens, disconnect your phone and reboot it manually.

Superuser.apk may not get installed for various reason and the root will not stick or work, if this happens, disconnect your phone, reboot it and go to Android Market, download Superuser and install it on your phone. Now repeat step 7.

I do not see “run.dat” just “run” is this the same thing?

  • Lala says:

    *.bat

  • Lala says:

Okay, the “run.bat” and “run” are one in the same. It worked flawlessly on my Samsung Android Vitality 2.3.4

I installed Superuser from the market before I began to ensure Superuser was installed, then downloaded the #1 and #3. I made a folder on my desktop and extracted #3 into it. I then “enabled USB Debugging” making sure it was checked. Plug my phone to the computer let the computer install the drivers, then opened the folder where I extracted to and clicked “run”. It did everything and restarted on its on…after which it was rooted….thank you so much and your directions are simple and easy to follow…xoxoxoxoxo

This have both my phone and computer a virus. I’d suggest not doing it.

  • Michella says:

This is not a virus, I followed the instructions exactly and my phone is rooted. It is similar to other instructions but this one acually worked. I installed ‘SuperUser’ first though since you were nice enough to let me know it may or may not install. Took the advice of the first comment. Thx sweetie, your a blessing.

When I ran the “run” it went through everything and said “Done. Enjoy your rooted phone.” However, nothing happened to my phone AND the script box said that there was an error. Something about multiple devices?

  • Tyler says:

Nevermind! Fixed it! My mom’s phone was also connected to the PC. Just had to unplug it! AWESOME Root thanks! :) )

  • vanessa says:

I rooted mine but it crashes every couple of minutes just sitting there. Does anyone else have that issue? It just randomly reboots without anyone touching it.

  • Jordan says:

Worked perfectly. It’s a rare pleasure to find instructions as clear and workable as these, as well as everything you need to install. Thank you very much!
    >Extra: A good way to check if your Android is rooted, download a Terminal Emulator from the Android Market, and open it. If it has a # sign, you’re rooted. If it has a $ sign, type “su” (without the quotation marks) and press the enter key. SuperUser will prompt you if you’d like to allow it, and you can click Allow. It will then change to a # sign, and you will know that you have root!

I am SO HAPPY I found this article. I’ve been trying to root my Vitality for like, four months now with no luck. I tried to run Gingerbreak on it but there wasn’t anything available for 2.4.3! This worked like a charm (after 3 tries) and now my phone is FINALLY rooted! YAY!
I highly recommend that you guys save yourselves a lot of trouble and download ES File Explorer to help you VERY EASILY get rid of those pesky pre-installed apps. Once you have root, you can give it root access and it’s a snap to delete them!

  • Michelle says:

Thank You for these instructions they worked as describe.

But to be safe like I followed the lead of the other commentors and went ahead and downloaded Superuser first from the app store.

This was a very simple process.

    Thank You again.

For those of you that have a Samsung phone not covered here or get stuck at Step 7 with SuperOneClick check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30241118#post30241118

v23 did not work at first. Unrooted, removed vendor apps, rooted with v23b – success. Not sure if it worked because I used 23b or because I got rid of the vendor apps.
