Hi I need some help badly if any kind soul can is willing to offer, thanks in advance. First of all apologies if this is the wrong place to request for help, and please let me know what is correct.
Just some weeks ago, I acquired a new razr maxx from my telco and it came with Gingerbread 2.3.6 which I did a OTA yesterday, which took about 15-20 minutes to complete, it seems but I believed it did not do a thorough job because for one when I look at the widgets menu, all the icon pictures are there except the description of the various sizes for selection.
I did a few attempts after reading a few times very carefully and failed to root. I tried the rooting processes few times and no root happened. All the things I checked and double checked – on the device manager menu detected the ADB, on the ‘My computer’, the XT910 was detected, ADB drivers were installed, the phone device was detected as indicated on the topleft bar the 2 android usb-mode icons, my device settings debug mode, etc.
Ok let me proeed with more info of the set, after upgrade to ICS 4.0.4 the current info as follows: model XT910, Firmware after config version GAS_ASIA_USASPDRICSSEAOP_P019/ BBand U_04.11.01P/ BBand config version USASPDRIC01IRDE100F.0R/ Webtop version wt-3.0.0/ Kernel version 3.0.8-g3c83d29, xgwr87@zch45Inxdroid43#1, SMP PREEMPT Mon Jul 16 15:01:49 CST 2012/ AP Flex version GSA_ASIA_USASPRDRICSSEAOP_P019, GAS_USA_ASIA_USASPDRICSSEAOP_A007/ Build number 6.7.3-94_SPI-328/ Build date Mon Jul 16 14:41:09 CST 2012
I hope all these info is useful to you.
I took a number of screen shots while the rooting was proceeding, what I believed is this, QUOTE “failed to copy ‘xyz’ to ‘data/local/xyz’ – permission denied”
Unable to chmod /data/local/xyz: no such file or directory/ststem/bin/sh: /data/local/xyz: not found…. then after auto reboot came this, “Attempting persistence, remount failed: Operation not permitted.UNQUOTE
Lok forward to hearing from you folks. Background, 2 years I ago I followed some leads from XDA and rooted my Dell 5 via the Universal androot method, it worked very well and I was happy. I am rather raw on stuff like binary thing, script thing, remount thing etc etc.
If one were to instruct me on all these, frankly I go nowehere.
Thanks guys.
